Mr. Pendleton called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

  • Minutes of October 27, 2014
Review and approval of the October 27, 2014 meeting Minutes.

IV.     NEW BUSINESS

  • “Harris Outdoors”   Sign
     875 Boston Post Road, Map 36/ Lot 1
     Shopping Center B-2 District
    Applicant: Robert Harris
   
This is an application for the installation of one sign in the location of the existing sign.  There are no modification other than plexi-glass with the logo of the new company. The dimensions of the existing sign is 72” x 48”. The proposed sign is a total of 36.3 square feet.

Presenting on behalf of this application were Robert Harris and Lauren Harris.

Mr. Harris stated that he will be removing the Lexan plaster and replacing with their logo and store sign.  The verbiage will remain the same.

  • “Pier Blue Guesthouse”  Freestanding Sign
1430 Boston Post Road, Map 26/Lot 16

Applicant:  Odedra Brothers, LLC   

This is an application to replace the faces of the free standing sign to accommodate new sign.  There will be no change in the sign size.  

Presenting on behalf of this application was Vaju Odedra.  The post will be a white PVC and the sign will be dark blue with drop out lettering.

MOTION to recommend approval of “Pier Blue Guesthouse” Freestanding Sign, 1430 Boston Post Road, Map 26 / Lot 16 as presented; MADE by G. Pendleton; SECONDED by T. Brodeur; APPROVED by T. Pendleton, T. Brodeur, B. D’Agostino, S. Missel ABSTAINING: None; (4-0-0).

  • “1450 Boston Post Road Plaza”  Tenant Sign & Wall Signs

Applicant:  Malimaa Krupa Association

This is an application to replace the face of a free-standing sign to accommodate a new sign.  There will be no change in the sign size

Presenting on behalf of this application was Vaju Odedra.  Mr. Odedra stated that all of the existing roof signs are in place and grandfathered.  

The road sign will be a dark blue background with a lighter colored lettering. Mr. Brodeur suggested that all of the signs be composed of a white lettering.  

There are three, 8’ x 4’ existing roof signs and Mr. Odedra was informed that a fourth roof sign will not be permitted.  Mr. Brodeur suggested a dark background with white lettering for the roof signs.  

Mr. Odedra asked to have this application tabled to allow him time to re-design a proposal that would make all of the business signs consistent.  Mr. Odedra will work on a design with a dark background and light letters and he will present at the November 24, 2014 meeting with the specifics. Mr. Odedra will provide pictures of the building for the members review at that time.  

MOTION at the applicant’s request to table consideration until such time that he has an opportunity to re-design the signs of “1450 Boston Post Road Plaza” Tenant Sign & Wall signs, 1450 Boston Post Road, Map 26 / Lot 17 as presented; MADE by T.   • “Quest Diagnostics”  Wall Sign
665 Boston Post Road, Map 36/Lot 103
Shopping Center B-2 District
Applicant:  New England Signs

        This is an application to install a 72” x 24” wall sign.

Rob McIntyre, New England Signs presented.  Mr. McIntyre stated that he proposes to install a box sign with LED lighting.
        
MOTION to recommend approval of “Quest Diagnostics” Wall Signs 665 Boston Post Road, Map 36 / Lot 103 as presented on the accompanying design specs.  The applicant will center this sign to the left, to the right and vertically and horizontally with the adjoining store signs; MADE by T. Brodeur; SECONDED by B. D’Agostino; APPROVED by T. Pendleton, T. Brodeur, B. D’Agostino, S. Missel; ABSTAINING: None; (4-0-0).

V.      ADJOURNMENT

MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. to the regular meeting to be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Old Saybrook Town Hall, 2nd floor conference room, 302 Main Street at 7:00 p.m.; MADE by T.
